The Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Challenge is an international competition that challenges teams to design and build a radio controlled 4x4 vehicle.
UK Flood Barriers sponsored two teams from King’s School Worcester to take part in the competition; Team Planet who competed in the Professional Class and Team Edge who competed in the Beginners Class.
As part of the challenge, the 4x4 vehicles built by the teams must be able to successfully negotiate a specially designed test track emulating real life and it must perform as a full-scale 4x4 vehicle would do in an off-road situation.
Both of the teams won Best Engineered Car in their classes at the National Finals, which were held on 29th March at Silverstone. This is a great achievement for the school pupils, who had designed the majority of the components themselves.
Charlie Parke, Design Engineer at UK Flood Barriers, attended the Finals and commented that it was great to see young engineers with so much enthusiasm.
